Boy Meets Girl

i helped my mom dye her hair this afternoon. over revlon's ammonia free permanent hair color #40, i learned the story of how my mom and dad first met.
she was working as a cashier in the restaurant of taiwan's first television station, ttv. he was manager of production and set design for ttv. they both knew of each other, but had never met.
on the day of their meeting, she was wearing a blue chi-pao with white satin piping. unlike the waitresses, the cashiers were stationed right at the entry and had a fancier dress code. besides dealing with money, they had to deal with etiquette of greeting and the strategics behind coordinating seating.
during the hustle and bustle of lunch, she heard her cashier-buddy mention how the majority of the production crew were heading down. her friend mentioned how the manager of the crew--lin pao yung--was the one responsible for the daily illustrations and animations (similar to the "love is..." section of the LA Times). since she was particularly fond of the illustrations and since she constantly heard the name lin pao yung get floated around, mom made note of the information so she could put a face with the name.
mom's cashier-buddy eventually greeted dad and his group upon their arrival. she introduced mom and dad to one another, joking about how dad was well known for his illustrations and maybe he could draw something for the ladies at the reception desk? when dad turned and got a good look at mom all dressed up, that was that.
